We had the privilege of assembling our care packages in our very own personalized drawstring bags! We are super excited to be able to present these wonderful bags full of goodies to the children. Our hope is that it brings a smile to their face.
We have so many awesome items to put in them. The packages were put together with the older children in mind. The hospital usually has no problem getting donations for the younger children but for the older ones it's a bit more difficult. With that in mind, we created a care package that is sure to keep them entertained while having to be in a hospital room.
The girls packages have a cute flower nightlight, and some great coloring books. The boys packages have fun games, a rocket nightlight that changes colors, and of course playing cards. They are both packed full of other items that will surely bring them joy.
We are so delighted to have "Headband of Hope" help us by donating beautiful flower headbands for the girls. I'm sure the girls will be super excited when they see them. If you have never heard of them, you should visit their website at www.headbandsofhope.com. For every headband purchased they donate one to a child battling cancer. We were donated enough headbands to include in 50 of our care packages that go directly to girls battling cancer!
We are currently working with the hospital to organize and implement some activities and these care packages are going to be one of them. We are looking to make enough to be able to leave with the families so that while at the hospital they have fun activities to do.
Through Jacob's Ladder Foundation we will be able to share some happiness with the families especially the children. The items may seem simple but the impact they make is tremendous. I remember when Jacob would receive even just a blanket. It would bring him extreme joy and excitement that someone else cared and that's what we want these children to feel as well. We want the children to know there is someone out there thinking about them and the battle they are fighting. We don't ever want them to feel like they are alone and it's so easy to feel that way when you spend most of your time in clinics and hospitals.
We can't wait to be able to have everything in place! We will keep everyone posted as we continue to help families.
