Oh my goodness! Where do I begin. The event was a huge success- more than what we ever imagined. Thank you to all who were a part of it. We are so grateful for everyone's help.
We started setting up on Thursday evening and it could not have happened without everyone that came out to help.
From beginning to end, everyone came together and the event was awesome! We had plenty of items for our silent auction..... from gift certificates to wrought iron works. We also had jewelry and baskets that ranged from purses filled with goodies to baskets filled with gardening items. We even had a Jacob's Favorites basket filled with all of his favorites. It was a nice touch to our silent auction.
Jacob's signature smiley face!
Besides coming together for the silent auction and for some great music to raise funds for Jacob's Ladder Foundation, there was another great purpose. We were honored to have Adriana Estrada from Be The Match organization. She took time out of her busy schedule to speak at our event about the importance of registering to be a bone marrow donor.
21 people ended up signing up! That made our hearts happy. To be able to have the potential to save a life? I mean, who wouldn't want to be a part of that. All you do to sign up is fill out some paper work, do a cheek swab, and wait to see if you are ever needed. That's it! A lot of people think it is difficult to do but Adriana made it simple and easy to understand. Thanks to everyone that took the time to sign up...like these guys.....
There was a donation station set up which allowed everyone to see what our care packages, blankets and lego sets looked like. These are the items children would receive while being admitted to hospital for treatments. It always varies, but sometimes we would have to be in there for weeks and even months at a time. Cassie and Jessica did a great job at manning the station and answering any questions that came about.
Care Packages will include socks, hat, books, games, and ear buds. Fun stuff to help pass the time and give kids a little joy in the midst of their journey.
Again, the event was amazing! There is so much more to cover but for now I will rap it up. At the end of the night, we can honestly say we are so blessed to have the support we do. Because of YOUR generosity, together we were able to raise $14,838! This is tremendous! It covers financial assistance for up to 15 families plus 39 care packages, 62 blankets, 55 Lego sets and so much more!
Jacob had a vision, and to all of you that couldn't make it, I just want to share that it began while undergoing his own challenges. He looked around and saw how blessed he was even though he knew what a hard time he was having physically. He saw a need and we all came together to make it happen. I'm so excited I just want to scream! As you all know, this journey is pretty rough. We face reality every time we wake up each morning. The reality of how "cancer" is affecting families all over the country and we have no control over the outcome but what we can do is help families tread the waters and be right next to them, ready to assist. Please spread the word and help us bring awareness. This is only the beginning. There are so many families out there that need our assistance. Again, from the bottom of our hearts, we are so THANKFUL to everyone. Thank you for joining us in our mission or should I say Jacob's mission of "Helping Kids Climb Back To The Top, One Step At A Time".
Enjoy the rest of these pictures and stay tuned for our next event!
